Did they not speak Gothic ? Language of the 4rd century (see : translation of the Bible on the script of Upssala, Sweden, 4th century). However : it was a beutiful language which had not to sound hard, it is a little like english with latin endings and declinations. But I think estonian must also sound very well. It is a language, which one not hear every day, let have a long life to the estonian language!
